In a significant step toward industrial sustainability and critical mineral security, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), the Heavy Water Board (HWB), and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 27 October 2026.
Under this initiative, the partner institutions will leverage their pooled technical expertise and industrial capabilities to pioneer efficient waste-to-resource recovery methods for essential metals like nickel and cobalt. As key inputs for electric vehicles, energy storage, stainless steel, and advanced superalloys, local recovery of these materials will bolster India's domestic supply chains while fostering eco-friendly manufacturing standardizations.
